Knights of the Hill Country by Tim Tharp
In this book there is a boy named Hampton who is the best player on his football team, but he has an advantage – he’s able to freeze time, a gift nobody else has. He has a best friend named Blaine who is more of a brother than a friend. When Hampton was young, his father left his mom and him, so Blaine and his dad taught him how to be great at football. Hampton’s home life is not the best in the world; his mother constantly has a new boyfriend every week.. Hampton also has an interest in a girl named Sara who doesn’t seem like the kind of girl a football player should be dating or even liking.
All throughout the story Hampton is constantly debating his loyalty to his friends, his team, and his family. This would be a good book for people who like sports and everyday life conflicts. I was so into this book I give it two thumbs up because I hated putting it down.
