A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer
“A Child Called It” is a story that will touch many hearts. Dave Pelzer tells a story about a childhood that many people wouldn’t ever face, he was neglected by his father and abused physically and emotionally by his mother. Both of them were alcoholics. I can relate to Dave Pelzer a little bit because I was abused as a child when I was little up to about 9th grade. I can relate to this man and what he went through in a way so it is like I could feel what he was feeling. After all the torture he was put through by his mother he never gave up or gave in. I believe anyone and everyone would enjoy this novel and I believe they would love to take the time to. The whole story he is being abused and he tries several times to run away but it always backfires on him and he ends up that much more hurt. He once told one of the administrators about his mother but his mother denied ever doing that to him and when he got home he was hurt really bad from her. The administrator saw this the next day and never called his mother again. He learned to survive thinking he’d never escape so you will have to read the book to find out if he does or not. I could not put the book down because everything was so intense right from the beginning. When the middle of the book came it was alright but after that it got intensifying again. This is definitely a must read!
