Bloodtide by Melvin Burgess

bloodtide2 The novel Bloodtide was a very good book. It had a lot of unexpected twist and turns. Just when you think you know what is going to happen next something in the story changes and takes a 180 degree turn. This is one of those books that relay drags you along in an emotional sense and keep you turning those pages. Word of warning this is in-fact a very hard book to put down. The book takes place in the ruined city of London after a post apocalyptic war. London is divided in two by gang families, and the area outside of London is too dangerous to travel in thanks to creatures known as Halfmen. Halfmen are as the name implies: part man, and part whatever else strikes your fancy (they can be anything). This novel however is not all about the Halfmen, it is a tale of romance and mystical gods, blessing and curses, rich and poor, all working for and against the world itself. In short it’s a mad game of roulette that toys with all its participants, who is going to bite the bullet? Guess you will have to read to find out!
